Missouri Boys Basketball Tournament Ratings
I posted the Missouri girls' classes one through three HERE.
Time for the Missouri boys classes one through three prognostications.
Updated 3/3/2023 10:00pm
The results are in for boys classess one through three. Gramps predicted 75% of these tough to call quarterfinals where the competition is much closer than district games.
In class three, all of the higher ranked teams won and the actual spread were not that bad.
In class two, Principia upset Cooter but I thought that might happen. The other games went to form.
In class one, I missed on two closely rated games. Platte Valley took down #1 ranked Green City by six and Glasgow "upset Atlanta by nine.
Class Three: coming soon. Headed to game and will finish later.
Class Two:
Class two has some great balance. Except for #24 ranked Clopton, all of the teams are in my top 20. In the top bracket, Cooter faces Principia and always dangerous duo of Jaylen Edwards and Stephen Okoro. Cooter is favored but they have to stop these two or Principia will advance. In the second upper bracket game, Plattsburg, 28-0, faces Wo-Blow and I think the Tigers will get by them. Salisbury should win easily over Clopton and the Hartville-Marionville game will be a knock-down, drag-out affair with Hartville favored slightly due to experience in tournaments more than a much better rating.
I think it will be Hartville and Plattsburg in the championship game and, if luck holds up, Isaia Howard and company will win and go undefeated.
Class One:
Three out of four of the quarterfinal games should be barnburners but I don't hold out much hope for Clarkton who has the unenviable task of playing defending champion and perennial powerhouse South Iron. The Green City vs Platte Valley/Jefferson (Conception) South Nodaway will be a nail-biter with someone throwing up a shot that either wins or loses their chance to play the South Iron Panthers in what could easily be the best game of the class one tournament.
I have St. Elizabeth favored over Thomas Jefferson Independent by eight and Atlanta favored over Glasgow by just a few points. Whichever team, St. Elizabeth or Atlanta or ?, wins their semi-final, will have a tall order facing the upper bracket representative. My guess is that South Iron wins again but don't count out Green City or Platte Valley, all are equally good.
