Give some girls teams some credit!

  I don't want anyone to think I am disrespecting the MBCA coach's poll for girls' basketball when I share my analysis.  I just want to make sure the teams that deserve votes actually are recognized.  Some teams seem to run under the radar all season long with the coaches poll and I do not know why?

So here's my analysis of the latest MBCA poll with my rating and ranking of teams in their polls.  For the most part, they know who the top two or three teams in the class are, but then it gets fuzzy with some teams I might rank in the top 20 or 30 are in the top ten and a lot of teams that are in my top ten based upon game statistics, don't even show up as receiving votes.

And there's no disrespect meant for those hard-working kids that are in the MBCA poll but not in my top ten.  If you like the MBCA poll better then ignore Gramps.  If you are a die-hard statistics type, take another look.

Now, why would I presume to preach to Missouri basketball coaches?  Well, over the past five years, I have predicted over 80% of the winners from districts to state so the statistics that makeup the Gramps rating system are pretty rock solid.  I ain't bragging.  Just the facts, Ma'am.  I only deal in "lies, damn lies, and statistics", but mainly the latter, as Mark Twain used to say.

So coaches, pay attention.  No disrespect but I want you to take a look at the teams in bold that I think deserve to be on your ballot the next time you vote.  And Gramps and his 800 followers will be looking to see if any of these bolden and deserving teams get your vote.  LOL

Updated March 28, 2023 It must be another full moon tonight or at least all the planets will be aligned in a rare concentration of planets under the moon at sunset in the west.  You should go outside and take a look.  It might not happen again in your lifetime. I have finished all the boys' and girls' Missouri basketball ratings for every school in every class in the state.  That includes about 550 boys and 530 girls schools.  Does anybody else do that?  Would anyone else ever attempt rating all those teams?  Gramp's Missouri Boys Class Five Final Basketball Ratings - Update March 26, 2023 No one can argue that Cardinal Ritter is #1 again this year.  But who should be #2?  Well, the MBCA poll takes the final four and places them above everyone else, no matter how good they were or what their record might have been.  Was Ladue good this year?  Oh, yeah, baby.  But Cape Girardeau Central was 27-3 and lost to Chicago Simeon, who was comparable to Vashon, CBC, and then was upset by Sikeston in the district final after beating them by 27 during the season.  So Cape Central deserves better than seventh in the MBCA poll.  I guess you could call Cape Central and Ladue tied for #2. Westminster Academy sneaks in at #4 ahead of third-place Jeff City and De Smet sneaks in ahead of Pembroke Hill who finished fourth at state.  Sikeston, who upset Cape Central, comes in at #8.  Borgia, who was undefeated at one point in the season, ends up #9 and Bolivar t...

Gramp's Class One Boys and Girls Basketball Ratings by district

 It's that time of year.  Missouri class one districts start tonight and everyone is looking to go deep into the tournament.  Well, maybe not everyone.  Some would like to play another game.  Some teams just want to finish with a good game, even if it is the end of the season.  All that work!  Time to get it done. Gramp's is putting the boy's and girl's rating together here.  Take a good look.  The team rank in all of class one is followed by the school name, district and Gramp's rating. Updated 2/21/2023 - Richland Essex and Osborn/Stewartville were incorrectly put in district one boys.  Tina Avalon and Norborne were misplaced in the girls.
