Gramp's Missouri Class Six Girls Final basketball ratings

Here are Gramp's Missouri Class Six Girls Final basketball ratings - Updated 3/28/2023

I don't know if my ratings are creeping up every year or if Incarnate Word Academy is getting better every year?  If the later is the case, then it is lights out for the rest of the class six girls' teams.  Maybe the MSHSAA league should establish a class seven and just put IWA in it by themselves?

There was never any doubt about who would win class six except for by how many points.  The Red Knights have won 100 straight games, eleven state titles since 2010 with one second and one third-place, and a covid year that they would have won.  In the past fifteen years, if I have my math right, they have won 429 games and lost 40 for a 29-3 average winning record over those years.

The rest of the games were good but not great.  Other than the 58-57 thriller between Rock Bridge and Park Hill South in the opening round, the rest of the games were yawners.  Teams seem to get blown out on the big stage.  Don't know why that happens when they are so closely rated?

Anyway, here are the class six girls ratings.  It has been fun keeping track of all these teams.  I will post the all-class ratings in a bit.

Hope you enjoyed.  C U next year, maybe.  Just need a little rest.

Somebody forgot to set their alarm and wake me up.  I almost slept through the first night of class five and six district basketball.  I posted the schools I had ranked in late February in order by district below.

Nothing much has changed on my earlier predictions from February 20th (below the district rankings).

Enjoy and root hard for your team.  Oh, I forgot,  I picked 96% of the first-round class six girls' games correctly.

It's all conjecture until they tip the ball at the center court, but we can look into the crystal ball and dream a little about class six girls.

Seems like there is a lot of parity in Missouri class six girls.  Fifteen really good teams, or at least from #2 down to #15 but that top spot, held by Incarnate Word since forever, is head-and-shoulders ahead of the rest.  Oh, they could have a bad game and get upset but it would take a really bad game.

No, the competition will be for district championships and state quarterfinals, with some really competitive districts.  Districts five, six, seven, and eight are loaded with talent and any one of several teams in each district could come out on top in their competition.

With a district 1-2, 7-8 matchup at the top of the state bracket, Jackson and Eureka would probably meet up to face the 7-8 district champs.  Park Hill South looks like the favorite in district eight but how can you rule out Staley, Liberty North, or Liberty, all top sixteen teams.  In district seven, #4 Rock Bridge, #5 Hickman, and #7 Grain Valley are all good choices for a final four slot.  There are eight teams that all have a shot at being in the state final from the top half of the bracket.  Flip a coin.

In the lower bracket, districts 3, 4, 5, and 6 compete but district #3 Incarnate Word will have no problem putting away the district 4 champ, Howell Central or Zumwalt West. The real battle is between the district 5 champ (Republic, Nixa, or Kickapoo) and the district 6 champ (most likely Truman but not without a challenge by Raytown).    Flip another coin.

That most likely leaves the best two class six teams, #1 IWA and #3 Truman, playing in one semi, and #2 Park Hill South most likely playing #9 Eureka, if Coach Alsup can get them to play at their best for all four quarters in every post-season game.

Regardless of that outcome, I suspect IWA will be ready to collect their thirteenth state championship trophy and extend their win streak to something like 91 straight wins.

Here are Gramp's class six girls' ratings and I have added the teams ranked by rating in each district below:

Enjoy the next month of girls' basketball.  It will be super exciting.
